Liver Volume in the Korean Adult

Abstract
|
|
|
Although many method have been described previoeusly for the mensuration of volume of Liver, which is not enough to evaluate actual volume of liver due to determined by two dimension in plain roentgenogram.
Recently three diameters measured in AP and oblique roentgernograms were used for mensuration of liver uolunie by Walk method.
Also by Wagner method the liver volume was calculated using radioisotope scans. This study was under taken to calculate the liver volume of normal Korean adult, using Walk´s method and Wagner´s method.
The subjects were total 411 cases, 140 cases for Walk´s method an 271 cases for Wagner´s method.
The summerized results were as follows;
1. The liver volume of normal Korean adult is 1,186±167m1 by Walk´s method and 1, 323±197.Om1 by Wagner´s method.
2. The relative liver volume of normal Korean adult is 743.Oml/m2 body surface by Walk´s method and 855.Oml/m2 body surface by Wagner´s method.
3. The reative liver volume is more constant than absolute liver volume regardless of height or body weight.
4. The liver volume calculated by Wagner´s method is more approximate to the Koreans autopsy data than by Walk´s method.
